Summer arrives in the blink of an eye. At this moment, you’re probably asking yourself what to pack for your summer abroad. We want to help you! Packing can be stressful, but if you organize yourself, you’ll see it’s not rocket science.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s your first time overseas or you’re an experienced traveler. It’s always important to plan what to pack in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises. So to make your life easier, we’ve prepared a checklist with all the essential items you need to take to your summer abroad. Take your time to read below and start your countdown!

Packing to EIA

1. Passport

You might think losing something as important as your passport is impossible. But when you’re anxious and excited about your trip, anything can happen. Choose one specific safe spot to keep your most important travel document.

Try to keep your passport in a place that you can easily check. Also, double-check for your passport after leaving the car, plane, hotel or after going through security.

2. Laptop

Your laptop will be your best friend and co-worker during a summer abroad program. It’s an essential tool to develop your startup.

Like your passport, you must always keep an eye on your computer. Don’t forget to have a case to protect your laptop from any damage.

3. Adapter

Summers abroad at the EIA will demand a lot of battery power from your electronics. Laptops, phones, tablets, and any other gadgets need to stay charged.

Each country has a different plug. We all know that this can be annoying, so don’t forget to bring an adapter to charge your devices without any problem.

4. Insurance

We know that this is not an item you think of when packing. But it’s definitely something you can’t travel without.

There are several options for travel & health insurance. You can check with the airline from which you’ve bought your ticket, your credit card company, or you can check the best options online

5. Credit Card and Cash in Local Currency

This two-in-one entry is essential if you want to make your summer abroad happen. Credit cards are great in case of an emergency, and cash in the local currency is helpful for daily things. They are both really important to have with you.

Don’t forget to exchange some money before traveling. It’ll be helpful to do this at the airport of your final destination.

5. Business Card

EIA’s summer programs are all about networking. Every day you’ll meet a lot of people. These folks are your potential business partners and clients. So if you have business cards, don’t forget to pack them!

6. One set of formal clothes

We want you to be really comfortable during your time abroad. But you might have some moments when formal clothes are needed. After all, you don’t want to meet a future investor, mentor, or employer wearing flip-flops!

7. Comfy Shoes

Is there any feeling worse than wearing tight shoes? You don’t need to add any extra stress to your summer program. Especially when it comes to your shoes!

Pack your most comfy footwear. You’ll need those good shoes to walk for long hours each day around the city.

8. Anti-Stress Items

Do you have any favorite stress releasers? If so, put it on your packing list! If you don’t, you should consider finding something to use during stressful times

9. Everyday Essentials

You might say that we sound just like your mother, but these are important items to have with you every day of your summer program:

  • Sunscreen
  • Earplugs
  • At least one sweater/hoodie/ jacket  (venue is cold due to AC)
  • Umbrella

Wear sunscreen every day, carry your umbrella and jacket with you, and make sure to have your earplugs in case you need a noise-free space.

10. Don’t Forget to Pack a Good Mood

EIA’s summer program is a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun! Be ready to meet people from all over the world, discover new cultures, places and flavors! Keep a smile on your face and count on EIA’s team to have the best summer of your life!
